Ellyse off to soaring start in WBBL|05

The 5th season of Women's Big Bash League kicked off in October and Ellyse Perry has wasted no time picking up where she left off.

Already, Ellyse has accumulated 279 runs at an average of 139.5 in five matches.

In the season opener, Ellyse produced a stunning all-round masterclass to propel the Sydney Sixers to a comprehensive 49-run demolition of hometown rival Sydney Thunder.

The Sixers captain scored a punishing 81 from 48 balls at North Sydney Oval then returned 2-13 from three overs both coming in her first over. This earned Ellyse her 18th Player of the Match award.

More recently, Ellyse and her long-term teammate, Alyssa Healy smashed the record for the highest opening partnership in WBBL history (0-199) in the Sixers' 45-run victory over the Melbourne Stars.

The Sixers are now third on the ladder with four wins from five matches.

The star-studded team are undoubtedly hungry for another championship after being pipped by the Brisbane Heat in last year’s final. Now, with the likes of Ellyse, Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardener, international debutant Erin Burns and a handful of talented up and comers in the lineup, the team are ready to give it their best shot to become champions again.

Fans are able to tune into every game live and free with 23 of the league's matches to be broadcast around the country on the Seven Network, Fox Cricket and Kayo. Other matches can be streamed on cricket.com.au and the CA Live app in addition to radio coverage from ABC Radio.
